WiFi and cameras in The Villages

WiFi help in The Villages for people who would rather have somebody explain it once, clearly, and then make it work. We come to the house, look at what you have, and tell you in plain language whether it needs replacing or just needs setting up correctly. No pressure and no jargon.

Housing stock

Mostly single story, ranging from courtyard villas at around 1,100 square feet to designer and premier homes over 2,500. Many have a lanai or a birdcage where people actually spend their afternoons and where the signal frequently does not reach.

Construction

Predominantly block and stucco, single story, with the router wherever the builder put the cable outlet, which is often a front bedroom at the opposite end of the house from where people sit.

How we get there

The Villages and Wildwood are north of our Clermont base, up 27 and the turnpike. We schedule this area in blocks so a visit does not depend on a long single trip.

What buyers here want

This is the most referral driven market we serve, by a wide margin. Neighbors recommend neighbors, and one job in a village tends to produce several more. Buyers here are usually not looking for the most advanced system, they are looking for somebody who will explain it patiently, do it properly, and pick up the phone afterward.

What we actually see here

The recurring problems in The Villages

  • A courtyard villa often needs nothing more than the existing equipment moved and configured correctly, and we will say so
  • Lanai and birdcage coverage is the single most common request here
  • Streaming television is usually the actual concern, and it is usually a coverage problem near the lanai rather than an internet speed problem
  • Handover training matters more here than anywhere else we work, and it is included

Questions from The Villages

I do not really understand any of this. Is that a problem?

No. That is the normal starting point and it is the reason the assessment is free and the training at the end is included. You will finish knowing how to add a device and change your guest password, and you will have it written down.

My television buffers in the lanai but works fine in the living room. What is wrong?

That is a coverage problem, not an internet speed problem. The signal is getting through the block wall to the lanai badly, and a speed test taken in the living room will keep telling you everything is fine. Often the fix is one properly placed access point rather than a whole new system.

Do I need to replace the equipment my internet company gave me?

Often not. In a single story villa the provider equipment is frequently adequate and simply in the wrong place or configured poorly. We will tell you honestly which case you are in.
